    car help

here is my problem. My Explorer is acting strange about once a month. the best way i can describe it is think if you have ever driven a car with a carb, not fule injected. about once a month it will act up just like a car would with a carb on it if it is cold and the choke isn't working just right. It will start and die and you have to feather the gas and the brake. It will happen at different times. Just this week I came home for lunch and it ran just fine but when I got back in it and was going back to work it started again. It sat for about 40 minutes is all.
    any thought?
    thanks

    maybe fuel pump

that could be the reason for feathering gas.

As someone has already mentioned, I would start with the fuel filter. I seem to have had to change fuel filters more in the past few years than ever before.

    Re: car help

With today's fuel pumps, you usually get all or nothing, meaning they quit without warning and you get absolutely nothing out of them. Replacing the fuel filter is usually the quickest and cheapest trial-and-error method. Check with someone to see how many fuel filters your vehicle has, as some have two - one near the tank and one located in the engine compartment.

    Re: car help

Explorers are a finicky breed, could be any number of things but most likely a fuel problem, also could be a stopped up cat convertor could have a piece of the substrate broken and moving around and will block the exhaust flow.
